International Dance Day Gala

The traditional Dance Day Gala of April 29 features the Estonian National Ballet as well as guest soloists from Vanemuine Theatre and contemporary dance troupe Fine 5, Tallinn University and Baltic Film, Media and Arts School second course students as well as young dancers from Tallinn Ballet School.

The exciting and varied programme brings to you the best of contemporary and classical dance. This is an evening full of the magic and beauty of dance! The day is made more festive by the presentation of the biography “Étoile” of one of the most legendary Estonian dancers through history – Tiit Härm. The presentation takes place in the Estonia Restaurant at 17.30 with Tiit Härm signing books personally. The book is written by Kadi Herkül, designed by Mari Kaljuste and published by Estonian Theatre Union. The moderator of the event is the Artistic Director of the Estonian National Ballet, Linnar Looris. The book is available also at the souvenir stand of the theatre.

In addition to a captivating gala performance, MyFitness Dance Awards will be presented to one female and one male dancer. MyFitness has a 4-year contract with the Estonian National Ballet and last year the award was received by demi-soloists Anna Roberta and Ali Urata.

On April 25, photographer Rünno Lahesoo will open his exhibition “2022” in the walking area on the level of the first balcony. The number in the title of the exhibition symbolises the year when our life changed completely due to the war waged upon Ukraine and its people by Russia and Belorussia. Rünno Lahesoo: “I sincerely hope that people all over the world have learned from last century’s events in Europe and will not let history repeat itself. Meanwhile, it is important for all of us not to lose faith in goodness and beauty in this time of difficulties and instability. I hope that the current exhibition will help the spectators to forget the chaos around us and relive emotions and moments together with the Estonian National Ballet. Take some time to stand in front of the pictures and remember the performances in their uniqueness. None of the captured moments will ever be born in the same way again”.
